About Us

JEFFREY J. BARNETT, Partner

Our law firm was founded in 1995 by attorney Jeffrey J. Barnett. Jeff is licensed to practice in all state courts, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. He currently is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Austin Bar Association, Austin Business Executives League (ABEL), Metropolitan Breakfast Club (MBC), and Business Networking International (BNI). Jeff’s legal practice focuses primarily on business collections, business transactional law, business entity formations, mergers & acquisitions, contracts, wills, trusts, estate planning, and probate. Jeff is also a certified Mediator. He mediates legal disputes in family, business, and civil law.

Jeff graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Management and a BA in Government. Jeff was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu, and he is a life member of the Texas Exes. He is also an annual contributor to the Longhorn Foundation. Jeff has served as District Justice for Texas for Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International.

Jeff received two Dean’s Service Awards and was twice recognized in Who’s Who Among American Law Students while attending Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa. He was very active in the Student Bar Association. He wrote for The Gavel, and he held several leadership positions in several student organizations, including:

  • Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International
  • National Lawyers Guild
  • Latino Law Society
  • Black Law Students Association
  • Drake Law Women
Jeff practiced law in a clinic for indigent and elderly low-income individuals. He has also volunteered for the Texas Civil Rights Project and the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. He actively participates in student mock-trial events and law-related educational efforts throughout the region, helping students from elementary school through college to have a better understanding of our legal system.

When he is not practicing law, Jeff is also an avid runner, marathoner, and Marathon Coach. He has completed over 35 marathons in more than 15 states, and has a goal of finishing a marathon in each of the 50 states, and beyond that, he aspires to complete a marathon on all 7 continents. He has been a Marathon Coach and Summer Training Program Director for Austin Fit (USA Fit Austin) and has also been a Marathon Coach for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training.

KEITH S. LEUTY, Partner

In the late 1990’s Keith Leuty joined the firm as a paralegal prior to entering Law School. He re-joined the firm in June 2014 as an Attorney and Partner. He graduated from St. Mary’s Law School in 2002, and is licensed to practice in all state courts, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Keith is currently a member of the State Bar of Texas, and is a certified Mediator. His primary area of practice is Wills & Estate Planning.

Prior to re-joining the firm, Keith spent 4 years as a solo practitioner focusing primarily on Criminal Law and Personal Injury Law. He then served for 6 years as an Attorney with the Chief Disciplinary Counsel’s Office at the State Bar of Texas, helping to enforce the ethical rules that govern attorney licensure. He also served as an Adjunct Law Professor for 3 ½ years at Virginia College at Austin teaching a variety of classes including Wills & Estates, Property Law, Criminal Law, Torts and Civil Procedure.

Keith also earned a PhD. in Clinical Christian Counseling with Advanced Certification as a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor. He is a member of the National Christian Counselor’s Association, the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling, a Certified Temperament Counselor, and a Commissioned Minister. 

He graduated in 1989 from Southwest Texas State University with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. During a 5 year career as a radio newscaster, he was twice honored with an Associated Press award for Best News Anchor in Texas, and twice for Best Reporter in Texas. He was also a two-time recipient of the Mark Twain Award from the Associated Press. Keith also volunteers as both a youth football coach and a youth basketball coach.

VeeCee is a legal assistant with extensive experience and knowledge regarding Medicaid, having worked for 20 years in benefits and policy for the State of Texas.  She also has worked extensively with the Veterans Administration assisting Military Veterans who seek to qualify for the VA Aid & Attendance benefit.
